Order of the Arrow
As Scouting's National Honor Society, the purpose of the Order of the Arrow is to
- Recognize those who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives
- Promote camping, responsible outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship as essential components of every Scout's experience
- Develop leaders with the willingness, character, spirit and ability to advance the activities of their units, our Brotherhood, Scouting, and ultimately our nation.
- Crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.
Arrowmen from the Tuality chapter of the Wauna La-Mon'tay Lodge serve our district by helping to organize the district camporee in the spring and Webelos Woods in October, as well as many other service projects. The chapter ceremonies team can help your pack with crossover ceremonies--look for details in the late autumn at Roundtable. The chapter's membership team can come to your troop and hold OA elections of qualified youth.
Wauna La-Mon'tay Lodge also presents the Leadership Development Conference each November. The conference program changes from year to year, but concentrates on youth leaders and team-building, and is very hands-on to encourage participation by the Scouts. Look for more information on LDC at Roundtable in the fall.
Chapter meetings are held the second and third Thursdays of every month, except during the summer. The chapter business meeting is on the second Tuesday, and is held at the LDS Hillsboro Stake Center. The activities meeting is on the third Thursday, and it is held at the Helvetia Community Church. Both meetings start at 7:17 PM.
